Freddie took part in the Best of British Camp this week and absolutely smashed it by winning Goalie of the Day on 2 out of the 3 days! 🏅 What’s even more incredible is that he’s only been in goal for just over a month. 🌟
Our coaches are already amazed by Freddie’s progress and see him as another one to watch in the future. His puck tracking and butterfly technique, which Coach James has been working on with him in this short time, are truly impressive! 🏒🥅
It’s amazing to see more and more children getting into this sport, and we’re especially thrilled with the rise in kids wanting to be goalies! 🤩 Keep up the incredible work, Freddie, and don’t forget to keep that winning smile when you’re in goal. We can’t wait to see you between the pipes in next season’s Lion Cubs Under 8s team! 💪🎉

Yesterday, our under-12s Lion Cubs hit the rink for their UKIHF league games, and while the wins may have eluded us, the growth and determination these kids displayed were nothing short of inspiring! 💪🏒
The coaches have been working tirelessly with the team to ramp up their physicality on the rink, reduce unnecessary tackles, and force opponents to take shots from wide positions rather than the middle. And let me tell you, the progress is undeniable! Some of the scores might look like big losses on paper, but that couldn’t be further from the truth—these were hard-fought battles from start to finish.
Shout out to our netminder, who faced some tough knocks during her games. Despite needing to step out early in a couple of matches, she was absolutely sensational in the last game, lasting 35 minutes and only letting in six goals. She pulled off some jaw-dropping saves, showing her true grit and skill! 🥅👏
A massive congratulations to Jessica, who earned Coaches’ Player of the Day for her incredible improvement in skating—way to go, Jess! And let’s hear it for Lucas, chosen as the Hardest Worker by his teammates for giving 100% effort during every single shift on the rink. 🌟
We know there’s still work to be done, but the strides the team is making are already visible. Many of our players are even competing a year or two above their age group—such impressive bravery and commitment from these young athletes!
Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents for dedicating your time and energy to support these kids on game days. Your commitment means the world. 🙌
Let’s keep building on this momentum—well done, Lion Cubs! 🦁🔥
Our Lions Cubs are ready for an exciting game day in the UKIHF under 10s league! Today, our young players will face off against the Moosheads, Predictors, and Knights. Although our team is still new to the sport, that doesn’t stop our Cubs from giving 100% in each game.
Our dedicated coaches have been setting challenges for the kids, such as getting shots off, performing stick lifts, and more. The children have also been working hard on plays since they were last on the rink, and we can’t wait to see them showcase the skills and plays we’ve been teaching them. Hollie has been focusing on positioning and the butterfly technique, and we’re excited to see her progress.
Win or lose, our main goal is for the kids to have fun and gain as much experience as they can in the under 10s age group. Let’s cheer them on and support their growth in the sport!

Big cheers for Freddie and Isabella, who stepped between the pipes for the very first time at last night’s Rookie Cubs session! 👏 Both took on the challenge of goal tending with passion and determination. During their debut hour in goal, they learned the fundamentals of the butterfly technique, where to position their hands and body, and worked on movements across the goal.
By the end of the session, their progress was phenomenal, and they were joined by Hollie, our amazing Under-8s and Under-10s netminder, for extra inspiration and encouragement. It’s fantastic to see more junior keepers stepping up, as goal tending is such a vital area where the sport needs more players. With additions like Freddie and Isabella to the team, we’re on track to have at least four junior age groups next season—a testament to the dedication of our young athletes and their incredible journey over the last couple of sessions.
🚨 We’re not stopping here! If you’re thinking about starting inline hockey—whether as a keeper or a player—why not join us? Drop us a DM or email us at info@lionsihc.co.uk for more information. Let’s keep building our Lion Cubs family together!
Oliver has had an extraordinary debut season for the Altrincham Aces, playing 26 games and scoring an impressive 15 goals with 11 assists—bringing his total to 26 points! Watching Oliver develop over the years has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve always believed he would shine when he reached the senior level, and he certainly hasn’t disappointed!
Ollie made the step up to senior Inline Hockey last season, playing a pivotal role in helping the Lions win the B League. This year, in the UKIHF North West A League, Oliver’s leadership, relentless determination, and “never give up” attitude have made him a standout player. At just 16 years old, he’s not only been the top goal scorer but also finished joint top on points in his debut season with the Aces—a remarkable achievement!
Oliver continues to be an incredible role model for both our junior and senior players alike. We are so fortunate to have him as part of the Lions squad and coaching team. His dedication and talent inspire us all, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything he has achieved.
