We had a mixed Lion Cubs training session this week with some children who have never been on skates and children who can skate but were looking to learn how to play inline hockey.
The children were split into 2 groups and this is a recording of the group Coach Oliver took.
Oliver worked on the basic skating, Shooting, and tackling skills required to play inline hockey. Considering most of the children at today’s training session had never held a stick before they all did amazing and were all very good at listening to Oliver and taking in what was demonstrated and explained to them.
We hope to see everyone back again next week as well as some more of our regular children as the school holidays come to an end.
If you think your child would like to try inline hockey then why not bring them to our Lion Cubs Junior inline hockey training session on a Saturday morning 10:30am until 12pm at Ardwick Sports Centre M12 4DY.
No equipment or experience is required and their 1st two training sessions are free.

We are expecting a busy Lion Cubs junior inline hockey training tomorrow morning please can everyone give them self’s enough time to find equipment and get changed.
Ourdoors open at 10:10am and we will be starting the training session at 10:30am.
We now also request all children use the changing rooms at the back of the rink to get changed before and after the training session to make sure we don’t overcrowd the entrance to the rink.
We are looking for netminders to come and join us at all age groups. Junior Age 5 to 16 Senior Age 15 + Women Age 14 + Any experience welcome. No equipment no worries we can provide what is required to get you started. For more information contact us via our Contact Us page.
Reminder we have no Senior training tonight we will look to host another Senior Training on Monday at Ardwick Sports Centre and next Thursday at Atherton Roller Rink. The events will not be posted this time round but if you are interested in coming please drop us a message to let us know you would like to attend and as soon as we know if we have enough attending the session we will then post the event.
All of our other training sessions are on as normal and the events will be posted by this evening.
We have seen a lot of interest in players wanting to play in the Lions Senior C team. As it stands we have close to 2 teams with players who have asked to be a part of the Senior C team.
If you are a beginner or new to the sport and would like to gain game experience then put your name down for our BRAH West C team if we get to 16 players we will split the group into two teams.
The one area we are short is keepers so if you are a netminder and would like to gain game experience please send in your interest and we will look to offer you the training and game time to improve your own game.

Due to holidays we are short of senior players attending this Monday night training so we have called it off. We will refund anyone who has paid and be in contact shortly. We are looking to hold a Thursday night session if we can get enough down this week we will not be posting the event on our page but if you would like to attend please let us know before Tuesday midday as this will be when the decision will be made if we are holding the session or not and then post the event for payment. If it is not on we should be back to normal next week once the holidays are over.
We have been asked by players looking to play in the BRHA West C league on what jersey to get. We have decided the black jerseys will be the best ones to order as this team is part made up of Wild Lions players and new players to Lions. With this the Wild Lions main jersey is Black so it makes sense for players to buy the senior Lions Black jersey if they are not apart of the Wild Lions team.
We will also be dropping an email to everyone who has registered interest in playing for Lions this season on what the plan is going forward with all the teams and payments.
BRHA is now requesting the teams and players that are playing in the BRHA West & North West leagues.
Some of our teams are now close to being full so if you don’t want to miss out on a place for this season then fill out our Registration form.

We have places for both Players and keeps at any level so if you are new to the sport or looking for a new team fill out the registration form and we will be in touch with what happens next and let everyone know how we will communicate for the season.
We have had a big uptake in our teams for the 2023/2024 BRHA season with players wanting to take part in Junior Under 6s to 18s where we will be looking to enter teams in BRHA West Junior Leagues and Tournaments.
We have also had a lot of interest in female players playing in On The Rocks and the Women’s League.
Our new C team is starting to take shape well with a mixture of Female and Male players looking to take part We have seen players return and Juniors becoming a part of our Lions Senior team looking to play on the BRHA West B/A and BRHA North West Senior Leagues.
Not all places are taken and we still have player and keeper places left in our teams so if you would like to join Lions for the new season please fill out this registration form on what teams you or your children would like to take part in and we will be in touch with you regarding what happens next and when the fixtures will be released.
