Since the UK was 1st put into lockdown Inline Hockey in the UK lost alot of players and teams due to the sport only being able to reopen close to the end of the pandemic and with this Manchester lost its Junior League and we had to rebuild our Junior team again.

In 2023 we started to see things turn around with our numbers growing and more and more new children taking up the sport again.

This sparked BRAH West to look at getting more children on skates again and starting a Junior League. Lions have become a part of this and for the 2023/24 season, we have teamed up with Dundee Preditors, Newport Knights & T-Wrex to put in teams in the under 8s, 12s, 16s & 21s with the hope that all 3 teams can put a team in each for the 24/25 season.

This week we saw the start of the under-8s league where Lions took 3 players Milly, Saina & Ellis to play in the 1st set of games and we are hoping to take more in the new year.

Ellis wanted to put a camera on for a game and picked the 1st game of the day against an experienced Mooseheads team and this was his view of the game.

This weekend we have moved our Lion Cubs Junior Training to Sunday 10:30am until 12pm at Ardwick Sports Centre and we will not be hosting the Hockey Basics class this weekend.

Our Monday night Wild Lions & Senior Training are all on as normal.

This week sees Lions host another 4 sessions at Ardwick Sport Centre and 1 session at Atherton Roller Rink.

Saturday is our Lion Cubs Junior Inline Hockey Training where we welcome children from the age of 4 and above, No experience or equipment is required as we teach all the basic skating and stickhandling skills required to play the sport. We can also provide the basic equipment like skates, sticks, and helmets to get them started.

Children also get their 1st two training sessions for free and it is then just £20 a month which also gets you access to the Sunday Inline Hockey basics class. No need to book just turn up on Saturday morning between 10:10am and 10:20am so we can get the children ready to start at 10:30am and the session runs until 12pm.

Sunday we host our Inline Hockey basics class which is designed for both children and adults who are new to the sport. No experience or equipment is required and children also get their 1st two sessions for free. The cost is again £20 for children which includes our Lion Cubs sessions and £25 for adults which also includes our Wild Lions Women and Senior sessions on a Monday night.

On Monday nights we host 2 sessions. 7:30pm until 9pm is our Wild Lions Women’s inline hockey team training session which is a female-only session designed to improve our women’s team as well as introduce more female players to the sport.

We also host our Senior Lions training from 9pm until 10:30pm which is open to both male and female players aged from 14 up. This training session has a mix of our Senior teams and Will Lions players as well as some newer players to the sport.

Both sessions above don’t require any hockey experience but you must have basic skating skills. We can also provide any equipment including skates.

The cost for this session is a part of the adult £25 a month membership which also gets you access to our Sunday hockey basics class.

We also host a Senior session on a Thursday night 9pm until 10:30pm at Atherton Roller Rink. This session is open to players of a C league and above standard and who are 14 and above. You must also own all your own equipment. The cost for this session is £10 per session. Lions host 5 sessions per week.

We host 4 sessions at Ardwick Sports Centre and 1 at Atherton Roller Rink so if you are looking to get into the sport as a beginner or join a new team for the 2023/24 season we have a session for everyone.

At Ardwick Sports Centre we host the following sessions.

For all the sessions at Ardwick Sports Centre, no experience or equipment is needed as we teach the basic skating and hockey skills required to play the game. We also have skates, Sticks and all the padding required to get you started.

For our Atherton training session, you must own all your own equipment and have basic skating and hockey skills already.

For our Ardwick sessions, we offer children their 1st two training sessions for free and then a £20 a month club membership that gets you access to both the Saturday and Sunday sessions or if you prefer to pay as you go it is £8 per session.

For adults, we have a club membership fee of £25 a month but this covers both our Sunday and 2 Monday sessions. If you prefer to pay as you go we charge £10 per session.

Join our Wild Lions Women’s Inline Hockey Training or our Senior Lions Inline Hockey Training session.

Wild Lions training runs from 7:30pm until 9pm and is designed for beginner and experienced female players. No equipment is required as we can provide everything needed to get you started playing inline hockey.

Lions senior training is open to anyone aged 14 and above with any experience of playing hockey. We have a mix of senior Lions players and beginners at this session.

We offer 2 payment methods for both sessions which is £25 per month per player or £10 a session. The monthly payment also lets you take part in our Sunday Morning Inline Hockey Basics class.

Wild Lions Womans Inline Hockey Class is held every Monday Night 7:30pm until 9pm at Ardwick Sports Centre.

This session is designed for anyone aged 14 and up with any experience.

We have a great mix of players attending from the age of 14 to their 60’s.

Join Lions Inline Hockey Basics Class on a Sunday 10:30am until 12pm.

This class is designed for both Junior and Senior players who have little to no experience in playing inline hockey or for players who want to improve on the skills they currently have.

We teach both skating and hockey skills and we can provide all the equipment to get you started including skates.

Children get their 1st two classes for free and it is just £20 a month after that. Seniors pay £25 a month. The monthly payment also gets junior players access to our Saturday Junior Inline Hockey training and adults access to our Wild Lions & Senior Lions training sessions on a Monday night.

If you prefer to pay as you train we also offer this at £8 per junior and £10 per senior.

Join Lion Cubs Junior Inline Hockey training tomorrow 10:30am until 12pm at Ardwick Sports Centre. Please note we open the doors at 10:10am so please arrive giving yourself plenty of time to find equipment and get changed as we aim for all children to be on the rink at 10:30am.

Lions are excited to announce we have 4 senior teams this season.

We will have the usual Lions senior team playing in the BRHA West A/B League.

Wild Lions will also be taking part in their 1st West League season playing in the BRHA West C league along with Lions Black who are made up of some of our Junior players and new players to the sport.

Lions will also be back playing in the BRHA North West B League.

Lion Cubs are also looking to take part in the newly formed BRHA West League this season and we have players in the following age groups:

Under 8s

Under 10s

Under 12s

Under 14s

Under 16s

Under 18s

We are still looking for more players and keepers to join us for the new season so if you are new to the sport or have experience playing and looking for a new team to join this season then Lions will be able to find you a place in one of our teams.

We currently host the following team training sessions:

Senior Lions Mondays 9pm – 10:30pm at Ardwick Sports Centre and Thursdays 9pm – 10:30pm Atherton Roller rink.

Wild Lions Women’s Training 7:30pm – 9pm Mondays Ardwick Sports Centre.

Lion Cubs Junior Training 10:30am – 12pm Ardwick Sports Centre

We also have a Hockey basics class on a Sunday 10:30am -12pm Ardwick Sports Centre. This is open to players of all ages and abilities who want to learn or improve their hockey skills.
