What way to end the BRHA Under 8s West League

Today marked the end of the Under 8s BRHA West League season, where our Lion Cubs teamed up with the Predators and Knights. What an exciting conclusion it was! The kids faced a tough challenge against the Bear Cubs, who were vying for the top spot in the league.

In the first game, the Bear Cubs secured a 9-3 win, but the score doesn’t reflect how competitive the match truly was. Our team took some time to find their rhythm in the first period but delivered a solid performance in the second. Ellis (#40) scored a fantastic backhand goal, while H. Morgan (#33) netted two more goals with some excellent plays.

The second game saw our kids hitting their stride, resulting in a thrilling 4-4 draw. We nearly clinched the win with just 12 seconds left, but the puck hit the underside of the bar and bounced out. Overall, it was a fantastic day for the team, showcasing their growth and determination to push one of the league’s more experienced teams to a draw.

This was also the final game for our combined Lion Cubs, Predators, and Knights team. Next season, we plan to field our own teams in the Under 8s and other junior age groups. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the players, coaches, parents, and everyone involved in the league for making this first junior season a success. It has been an amazing experience with some incredible hockey, but most importantly, the children had fun and made new friends both on and off the rink.

The Lion Cubs are now gearing up for next season, and we will soon announce the age groups we will be entering. If anyone is looking to join a new team or get into the sport, join one of our training sessions on Saturdays at 10:30 am or Mondays at 6:30 pm at Ardwick Sports Centre.
