Massive shoutout to our Rookie Cub Kevin #06 for showing incredible improvement over the summer! 🌟

Kevin joined the Lion Cubs just a few months ago and started off learning the basics of skating and the game. It took a little time, but Coach James saw something special and encouraged him to jump into the Underdogs Tournament – because the best way to learn hockey is to play hockey! 🏒🔥

Since then, Kevin has come on leaps and bounds – mastering stick handling, skating with confidence, and even developing a proper hockey brain! 🧠 He’s reading the game, cutting out passes, and looking up to make smart plays. 💪

Now, Kevin’s stepping up to join our under-8s and under-10s Lion Cubs, and we can’t wait to see him shine on every game day! 🌟

Yesterday was a special day for our Lion Cubs Under-14s team as they took to the rink for their first ever game day together! Facing two experienced teams — the Predators and the Seakings — our Cubs showed incredible heart, teamwork, and determination throughout both matches.

Just like our Under-12s and Under-16s squads, the U14s featured some of our younger Cubs stepping up to the challenge, including Elijah, who played in his first ever game day. Welcome to the team, Elijah! 👏

Despite the tough competition, our Cubs never gave up. They worked hard to play a passing game, communicated well on the rink, and supported each other from start to finish. The effort and team spirit were clear for all to see.

🏅 Players’ Player of the Day: Lottie
Once again, Lottie was a rock in goal, showing growth with every game she plays. No matter how difficult things got, she kept her head, gave her best, and made save after save. Amazing work, Lottie!

🏅 Coaches’ Player of the Day: Hallie
Hallie was a true leader on and off the rink. Her vision, communication, and positivity were outstanding. Whether helping organise the defence or sharing insights with Coach James on the bench, Hallie kept the team focused and lifted spirits with every encouraging word — especially cheering on Lottie after each save!

This team may be new to the sport, but the hard work, heart, and hockey IQ on display today show that the future is bright for this group of Cubs. We’re proud of every single player who stepped on the rink today. Keep growing, keep pushing, and most of all — keep enjoying the game! 💪🦁

Today marks a huge milestone for our Lion Cubs Under-14s team as they hit the rink for their first ever games together! 🏒💥

We’re kicking things off bright and early at 8:40am against our good friends the Predators, followed by a second showdown versus the Seakings. Two tough matchups await, but our Cubs are ready to give it their all!

Just like our Under-12s yesterday and Under-16s last week, this team is all about growth, grit, and good vibes. Every game is a chance to improve, learn, and most importantly—enjoy the moments together as a team. 💪❤️

Whether it’s a slick pass, a solid backcheck, or a big cheer from the bench, we’re proud of every effort our Cubs put in. Let’s make some memories and show what Lions hockey is all about!

What a day for our Under 12s Cubs! 💪 Despite facing tough competition, our youngest stars — under-8s Edan and Ellis — led by example with their relentless energy, positive attitude, and never-give-up spirit across all three games. Between them, they scored 6 of the 8 goals and assisted in 4 more during our final match against Northstars! 🌟

The day kicked off with two challenging games against Mooseheads and Wolverines — both expected to be top contenders this season. But Ellis and Edan charged ahead, skating non-stop and tracking back like pros. 🐾

For many of our other Cubs, this was their first time playing in the under-12s age group. The speed and physicality were a big step up from under-10s, but as the day went on, they adapted, showed grit, and started playing real hockey. Special shoutout to our netminder Hollie, a first-year under-10 playing up in under-12s — amazing effort between the pipes! 🧤

🏅 Players’ Player of the Day: Edan — a true engine on the rink, giving 100% every shift!
🏅 Coaches’ Player of the Day: Leo — only 12 months into his hockey journey and already breaking up plays, making passes, and scoring goals. Huge improvement and heart shown today!

This was a tough but valuable experience for our Cubs, many of whom were playing up one or even two age groups. Every shift was a learning moment, and we can’t wait to see how they apply what they’ve learned in the next under-12s game! 🦁

Last night, our amazing under-14s netminder Lottie stepped up to join the Senior Lions Training — and absolutely smashed it between the pipes! 💪

Lottie’s only been playing in goal for just over 12 months, but she’s come a long way since first putting on the pads. She made some great saves, didn’t shy away from any shots, and handled the faster pace like a pro. 🧤🔥

Despite the intensity, Lottie completed the full 1.5-hour session, including three 20-minute scrimmage games in a packed-out rink. Her confidence and skill are growing every time she hits the floor, and we reckon she’s definitely one to watch over the next few seasons! 🌟

A huge shoutout to our Senior Lions team for welcoming the Cubs players we’ve invited to Thursday nights. It’s creating a real family feel across the club and showing how supporting the next generation helps keep talented players in the sport. ❤️🖤

This month’s roar of approval goes to Lucas, our unstoppable Lion Cub who’s been turning heads and lifting spirits across the club! 🦁

Lucas has been training with the Lion Cubs for a few months now, and WOW – what a transformation! His confidence, gameplay, and attitude have skyrocketed 🚀. Whether it’s stick-handling, positioning, or just being an all-round legend on the rink, Lucas is showing us all how it’s done.

But that’s not all…

For the past 4 weeks, Lucas has been stepping up and training with our Senior Lions 🖤 – and he’s absolutely smashed it! His confidence has soared, and he’s brought that same energy back to the Cubs, inspiring teammates young and old.

At our Hockey Hustlers sessions, Lucas leads by example – showing leadership, hustle, and heart. And at the recent Under-16s game day, he was a standout force, guiding the team with maturity and passion.

So when it came time for the coaches to pick September’s Player of the Month, Lucas was the clear choice. His growth, attitude, and leadership made him the one to watch – and the one to celebrate! 🎉

Today our brave Lion Cubs stepped up to the challenge at the under-16s game day, fielding one of the youngest squads in the league. Despite knowing they were up against strong opposition, our Cubs showed heart, grit, and a never-give-up attitude from the first puck drop to the final whistle.

💥 Game 1 vs Wolverines
The Cubs held their own in the first period, trailing just 4–0 against a well-drilled Wolverines side. Experience told in the second half, but the Cubs never backed down and kept battling.

🔥 Game 2 vs Devils
A tighter affair saw the Cubs go into the break only 2–1 down. The Devils’ experience helped them pull away in the second period, but the Cubs showed real fight and teamwork throughout.

🌊 Game 3 vs Seakings
Another close contest! The Cubs were just 3–1 down at half-time, and although the Seakings edged the second period, our Cubs gave it everything and left it all on the rink.

🏆 Players’ Player of the Day: Lottie
Lottie was a rock in goal, making outstanding saves and keeping the team in every game. Her performance was nothing short of heroic!

🎖️ Coaches’ Player of the Day: Lucas
At just 11 years old, Lucas led by example, bagging two goals and showing maturity beyond his years. A true leader on and off the rink!

👏 Honourable mentions to Sam, Hallie, Theo, Charlie, Jo, and Callum — each played a massive role today, giving 100% on the rink and supporting each other with a positive attitude on the bench. This team became a little family today, and we couldn’t be prouder.

💬 We may not have got a win, but the day was full of positives. The Cubs improved with every game, and we can’t wait to see how this team grows over the season.

As we wrap up the 2024–2025 season, we’re thrilled to kick off September with fresh energy and new opportunities. Over the past 12 months, our players have shown incredible progress, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow and push forward in the new season.

This year, we’re proud to be hosting teams in the West A and C Leagues, and making a strong return to the North West A League as our senior squads aim to climb even higher. Our junior teams are also expanding, now competing in the West Under 8s, 10s, 12s, and 14s Leagues—with many players experiencing league hockey for the very first time!

But we’re not stopping there. We’re looking to grow even more and have spaces available across all our teams. If you’re interested in joining, now is the perfect time!

• Juniors: £35/month
  Includes access to all age-appropriate training sessions, opportunities to train with older groups based on experience, game fees, end-of-year event, and extras like Nationals.
• Seniors: £45/month
  Includes two training sessions per week, game fees, end-of-year event, and additional events.

📍 Ardwick Sports Centre – Mondays

• Rookie Cubs (6pm–7pm)
  For beginners aged 10 and under, focusing on hockey fundamentals.
• Lion Cubs (7pm–8:30pm)
  For advanced juniors aged 6–14, with more complex drills and gameplay understanding.

📍 Rink Training – Sundays (7pm–8:30pm)

• Hockey Hustlers
  For advanced juniors (7+) and senior C League players. This session focuses on rink-based drills and game scenarios.

📍 Senior Training – Thursdays (9pm–10:30pm)

• For B level and above players aged 12+, aiming to build competitive senior teams for A League play. Fast-paced drills and scrimmages designed to elevate team performance.
