Another busy weekend for Lions

This weekend may have been a bank holiday but Lions did not have a rest.

On Saturday we had the Under 14s take part in the North West League where they has 2 losses with an inexperienced team but the feedback from the children and parents was that all the children had fun and enjoyed playing games.

We also took part in the Fun day at the West LeagueRink in Market Drayton where we saw 3 Lions under 6s take part in their 1st games all played terrifically and it was fun to watch children all under 6 skates around the rink chasing the puck and scoring goals.

We also had 2 under 12s participate in the under 14s games and both players played really well and had fun on the big rink.

The feedback we had from parents and everyone who was taking part was positive and we can’t wait to host another Fun day and see the event grow.

Sunday Black Lions were playing in the Senior B League where they managed to secure 2 wins against Dragons. Lions secured a 9-8 win  & and 8 – 5 win in 2 very close-fought games but it keeps them in the hunt for a Nationals spot in August.

We have another busy week ahead of us again this week with all of our sessions back.

Busy classes and game day weekend for Lions

This weekend was another busy weekend for the club.

Saturday we had a great turnout for our Kids & Everyone Learn to Inline Skate class.

Our under 12s team also took part in the North West Junior League.

Our under 12s are made up of most players playing in their 1st season and even though they did not get a win against the more experienced sides the kids had a lot of fun and also gained experience from the day.

Sunday we had another good turn out for our Everyone Inline Hockey class.

We saw some new beginners and also massive improvements from our under 6s who all seem to be natural at the sport.

We finished on a game where we put the children against each other and the adults against each other. Unfortunately, we did not have the cameras running this weekend but it definitely made some entertaining moments on both sides.

Sunday our Lions White team was back playing in the Market Drayton C League. This weekend we had a very short benched team with only players us a keeper and back to back games.

This did not stop them from trying though and they came away with a win against Lycans and a close loss against Raiders. This group of players has been nothing but impressive this season as it has a mix of players who are part of our under-15s team, a keeper who has only been playing for just over 8 months, and all under the age of 24. We are hoping to have everyone available for the next round of League games and we can’t wait to see how they play with a full bench.

The club would like to say a big thank you to everyone who played, coached and took part in our classes this weekend as without everyone coming together none of this would be possible.

Full videos from Mondays Wild Lions Training are on our YouTube channel

We had 3 new players join us on Monday night as we took the session back to a more basic style to help them find their feet of what roller hockey is about.

We were impressed with how quickly they picked up the drills and how welcoming our other players were.

See the videos below.
